New NCERT Books 2026: Revolutionising Class 9 Social Science
The rollout of the new NCERT books in 2026 introduces a completely reimagined CBSE Class 9 Social Science curriculum. By seamlessly blending history, geography, political science, and economics into a single cohesive narrative, the textbook eliminates traditional academic silos.
Key features of this updated framework include:
- Focus on Analytical Thinking: Moving away from memorising dates and facts to encourage evidence-based reasoning.
- Real-World Application: Fully preparing students for new CBSE exam patterns that test conceptual clarity rather than rote learning.
- Integrated Global Perspective: Helping learners understand the deep intersections between India’s localized socio-economic landscape and broader global trends.
This transition ensures that schools adopting the CBSE Class 9 Social Science new curriculum are equipped with modern pedagogical tools designed for 21st-century learners.
The new textbook is titled “Understanding Society: India and Beyond” and is Part 2 of the Class 9 Social Science curriculum.
The textbook is available for purchase from September 29, 2026.
It focuses on understanding society, critical thinking, inquiry, and responsible citizenship.
