The National Medical Commission (NMC) has officially reopened the online application portal for obtaining the mandatory MBBS Eligibility Certificate. This final window is specifically intended for medical aspirants planning to pursue their undergraduate medical courses abroad who missed the previous deadlines.
Candidates can submit their applications digitally until October 7, 2026.Applicants are advised to log into the official portal at application.nmc.org.in well ahead of the deadline to avoid last-minute server congestion.
The Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) under the NMC decided to extend the timeline after receiving numerous representations from students and parents. Many applicants reported facing severe technical glitches on the portal during the earlier application phase, preventing them from completing their submissions.
Why NMC MBBS Eligibility Application Form is Mandatory
For Indian students intending to study MBBS or primary medical qualifications outside India, the Eligibility Certificate issued by the NMC is a legally binding requirement. Without this document, students will not be permitted to sit for the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) or the upcoming National Exit Test (NEXT), effectively barring them from practicing medicine in India upon their return.
Important Guidelines for Applicants
The NMC has issued a strict advisory alongside the reopening notification, urging candidates to exercise extreme caution while filling out the online form:
- Check for Deficiencies: Applicants whose previous forms were marked with deficiencies must rectify them and resubmit before the deadline.
- Document Verification: Ensure all academic transcripts, identity proofs, and NEET-UG scorecard details are clearly scanned and uploaded.
- No Further Extensions: The commission emphasized that this is a one-time relief measure. Incomplete applications or those submitted after the closing date will be summarily rejected without any further correspondence.
NMC reopened the window after candidates reported technical issues that prevented them from submitting applications earlier.
Candidates can submit their applications until October 7, 2026, at 6 PM.
Candidates can apply through the official NMC online registration portal.
